eQualed

FAQ

Do I need to create an account?
No. Opening the app sets you up as a guest automatically — no email or password. You can optionally link Sign in with Apple or Google later from Account → Keep your groups, which just means your groups survive a reinstall or a new device.

Do my friends need an account to join a group?
No. They open your invite link, pick their name (or claim the seat you already added for them), and they're in. Same guest setup as you — no sign-up for anyone.

Can I add an expense for someone who hasn't joined yet?
Yes. Add them as a placeholder from the group screen — their name shows up in balances right away, and they claim that seat whenever they open the invite link.

Does eQualed move money between us?
No. eQualed only tracks who owes what. When you settle up, it shows the fewest payments needed to even everyone out, with a link to pay through whatever app someone already uses (Venmo, PayPal, etc.) if they've added one. You mark it as paid once it's sent.

What happens if I reinstall the app or switch phones?
If you're still a guest (no Apple/Google linked), a reinstall can lose access to your groups, since a guest account is tied to that device. Link an account beforehand from Account → Keep your groups to avoid this.

Can I split expenses in different currencies?
Yes. Enter an expense in any currency and eQualed locks the exchange rate at that moment, so your group's balances don't drift later if rates move.

Can I edit or delete an expense after adding it?
Yes, while the group is open. Any member can edit or delete an expense; balances update immediately for everyone.

What happens when a trip or group is done?
Settle up, then close the group. Closing stops new expenses but keeps balances and history visible, and you can reopen it anytime.

Who can see our group's expenses?
Only the people in that group. See the privacy policy for details on what's collected and how it's stored.

What does eQualed cost?
It's free to use. If that ever changes, your groups and data stay yours either way.
